Why LLMs Lie with Confidence

Large Language Models possess no internal concept of objective truth or falsehood. When asked a factual question outside its training corpus or provided context, the model does not encounter a traditional database 404 error. Instead, it generates words that sound stylistically authoritative and plausible.

The most effective way to cure hallucinations is **Retrieval-Augmented Prompting**. Restrict the model's universe of valid facts solely to documents you provide inside the prompt context:
